Hello, we are Gerlinda and Dieter Sokoll. Gerlinda is Filipina and Dieter is German. Since the KNIGHTS OF RIZAL have bestowed the knighthood on Dieter in Decemter 2017, he is called Sir Dieter and with this privilege comes, that Gerlinda is called Lady Gerlinda. Close family and friends call her Gerlyn. We are living in the City of Cagayan de Oro, the city of Golden Friendship. This is our blog, where we post our photos, videos and stories about family, life, travels and our LOLA GERLINDA'S FLOWER SHOP. The reason for this is, that Gerlinda's Hobby shifted from raising pigs to plants and flowers. Because of African Swine Fever she had to stop raising pigs. We both love dogs. That's the reason why a few large dogs are family to us. There are the the German Shepard ladies Bouney and Daisy and our young mixed boy Bravo, daughter of Bouney, who has a Belgian Shepard Malinois as father and is lightly handicapped. At the other end of the house we are having some local cats, they adopted us or we the cats, who knows.

It was a few years ago when we took these pictures in the gold mining village of Gango, which is part of Libona in Bukidnon province, in Northern Mindanao.

As the crow flies, Gango is a few kilometres from our house in Cugman.

This gold mining town is located behind Cagayan de Oro City and can be reached on foot from the barangays of Gusa, Cugman or Indahag.

We came into contact with the chairman of the gold prospectors’ cooperative during our visit, and he showed us some tunnels.

We visited this place again and this time found entry to the neighbouring tunnels. I was able to capture all this in a video, with the camera also going underground.

I have to go back a bit. On Saturday Jenny & Gary returned from their 2-week Vietnam holiday with a friend. This was then also celebrated with plenty of beer.

Sunday was the worldwide Mother’s Day, so also here and recovery from the evening before (see beer).

Today we had our early walk again and between Negros and Mindanao there was a thunderstorm with heavy rumbling over the sea. Later, there was the first extensive shower, which not only benefited the plants and flowers.

When evening falls in Dauin, Negros Oriental, it usually looks like this.

The next morning, on their morning walk again, most of the dogs are still dreaming at the small store on the highway.

Discovered during the walk: the green calamansis hiding in the green leaves. If you look closely, you will find plenty of fruit on the tree, but only a few flowers.

My cough syrup as a vitamin bomb consists of the juice of half a lemon, if that is not available, a handful of calamansi, honey and the boiled decoction of herbs, I think it is oregano. Oregano grows on every corner here.

Located in the town of Sibulan in Negros Oriental, visitors are welcomed by an inviting eatery and a tranquil setting for contemplation. Chicken Jo’s Inato by the seaside offers a delectable array of dishes, including seafood and grilled meats. While their mouthwatering grilled chicken is a customer favorite, their other menu items are equally impressive. Patrons can indulge in refreshing beverages such as soft drinks, shakes, water, and beer. The delightful atmosphere of Chicken Jo’s Inato in Sibulan attracts both tourists and locals from Dumaguete and nearby towns. The restaurant operates from 9:00 am until 9:30 pm.

Across the road from the esteemed eatery stands an awe-inspiring statue of Mother Mary, set within a well-maintained park atop a mountain. Once upon a time Lady Gerlinda and Dieter had a large number of large dogs of various breeds.

The main player was our Hovawart JAMES, brought from Germany. Later we were joined by Boomer and a pair of Doberman Pinschers. In addition, there were several mixed breeds, since there was no Hovawart girl and, as far as we know, James was the only one of his kind in the Philippines, he mated with our German shepherd.

Those were the days when we walked down the street with up to seven huge dogs on a leash.
